The old Spa layout was just about flat out for the entire 8.7 mile distance. Corners like Burnenville, Malmedy, the infamous Masta Kink, Stavelot and La Carriere were all 180+ mph with speeds dropping to 150+ mph for  corners like Eau Rouge and Blanchimont. Jo Siffert and Brian Redman won the event, driving a Porsche 917K covering 71 laps in 4h09m47.8s and averaging a speed of 149.409mph. Part of the Triple Gulf series celebrating the JWA, Gulf Porsche partnership and success of the early 1970s.
